Link Correction

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick reminder. The BlindCat and MamaCat will be in St. Louis on October 1st. The original link in the 'On the Road' bar was incorrect. (Thank you to Rachael Smith - Program Director - for bringing this to our attention!)

The present link takes you to the main library page. Branches are listed alphabetical. Scroll down to the Carpenter branch. You'll find contact info and a Map link.

If you go, let us know and email me (Kelly) pics - kellyscountry@missouri.usa.com  We'd love to share them on the blog!

Back to work!

For all of us!

Blindcat and Mamacat have been turning up the heat recently with a couple of gigs and some great video postings.  Here are a couple YouTubes for you to check out:

This 2nd video came with an AWESOME comment from Chuck Berry's daughter.

She said 'she could feel Blindcat's soul through his guitar'. Wow!

You'll note we've added some gigs to the calendar (see the right column). The one for the Carpenter Library (3309 Grand Ave - St. Louis)  on October 1st is to help kick off National Disabilities Awareness Month.

From all of us at Spaceland to all of you out there, have a safe and FUN summer and we hope to see you at our next gig!

Peace and Love!

Happy New Year!

I don't know whether to say it's been a busy season or a slow season. I guess it depends on whether you talk to Blindcat or me. Blindcat and Mamacat have not had the opportunity to bless us with any gigs in the area lately. I'm surprised someone didn't book them for a holiday party.

They were able to occupy themselves setting up a couple of holiday gifts for you. I apologize for this being 'after the season', but I've been the busy one getting ready for the holidays then battling a the first (and hopefully only) horrendous head cold of the season.

So pour your favorite beverage, kick back and enjoy these belated holiday gifts. Regardless of the season, when they come from 'The Cats', they always come from the heart.
Personally, I love Robert Burns' voice in his rendition of Auld Lang Syne and will search for more of his music. This particular video had over 2 million views!

Note from Blindcat:
Last year a friend of mine , Reggie from K.C.sent a version of Auld Lang Syne to me and it brought tears to my eyes.  I couldn't bring myself to delete it and played it again a few nights ago.  This time I sat alone in my office and cried like a baby.  I was both joyful and sad, for I was thinking of friends lost, but I was also thinking of how lucky I am to have so many friends who care,  and my wonderful Mamacat.
I have no biological family left, but a few distant cousins.  Nothing takes the place of loyalty, trust, appreciation and love and I've learned sadly that these are not necessarily guaranteed by kin folk.  I hope you enjoy this song as much as I did and Mamacat and Blindcat love all of you and wish you a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

This second video is a presented in Jimi Hendrix style done only as our Cat can do it!

May your 2012 be full of blessings and love

A La Carte concert

What an awesome time we all had at A La Carte Cafe in West Plains on Friday night. If you were there, Thank You for coming out and helping make it a party!  If you couldn't make it, you missed out on great food and great music.
Here are a couple of pics I took during the event:

A True Love Story

For two years before moving to Spaceland Mamacat would travel two hours from Cuba, Mo. to spend the weekend with me.  While anxiously awaiting her arrival each Friday night I penned this song for her.  This October 14th she will have lived here for six years.  We met on Match.com  grins  We shot this video last night deep in the love dungeon of our castle.

Columbia Gig Recap

July 10, 11, 12 Mamacat and I attended a state wide conference in Columbia where I gave an oral presentation along with Leslie Holt of Missouri V.S.A. on the empowerment of art.  Here is a link to a video clip of this event.

The first six minutes of the clip is my oral presentation, then I perform an original song "Promise Land" I wrote for my fiancee Debbie Hediger after she was killed by a drunk driver in (1995) as we were returning home  after a gig in Springfield, Mo.
Never loosing consciousness after the collision, I envisioned her spirit rising to heaven and reaching out for me.  I am uncertain as to whether I was in the Van or the ER when I had this vision, but I can tell you my guitar was soaked with tears upon completion of the song, which I began to compose around three weeks after the wreck.
This is a prime example of the healing powers which may be experienced through art as an expression and communication.
During my oral presentation I refer to my friend Dan (Rosco) Reese whom I visited in a St. Louis hospital as he was struggling with a brain tumor.  He was unable to speak, but as I began to play music for him, he could only vocalize one word which was "Wow".  Mamacat told me he also began to move his foot to the music as tears flowed in the room.  Ah, the power of music.
